Tips for a Successful (Healthful) Back-to-Routine

At Carbonaut, we know that a successful back-to-routine is all about thoughtful time management. The better you manage your time and organize your routine, the calmer and more efficient you’ll feel. And if you’re trying to get back into a healthy rhythm while maintaining a low carb lifestyle, you’ll need to be focused.

Here are some of our suggestions for staying on track and keeping your feet firmly on the launchpad to ensure a successful autumn and beyond.
Organize Your Weekends
While we’re big fans of anything that can cook itself all day in a crockpot, you don’t have to limit yourself to one-pot meals. Weekday dinners can be delicious and diverse—but only if you’re organized.
Plan
Decide what you want to eat throughout the week. We recommend planning 4-5 dinners, because there are often leftovers and this way, you’re not wasting food or your time. Flip through your favorite cookbook or explore the online universe for easy meals you know you’ll enjoy. Make a list of required ingredients and note what you need to shop for.
The same premise goes for lunches.
Shop
Bring your list to the grocery store on Saturday morning, and meticulously check everything off as you browse the aisles. Having all the ingredients to make your dinners is imperative to weekday meal success, and having a fridge and pantry full of pre-planned lunch food makes for a more enjoyable week.
Prepare
Prep your lunches and dinners for the week on Sunday, keeping in mind that the level of preparation may look different for everyone. For some, cleaning, chopping, and pre-portioning is enough. For others, consider pre-cooking grains and proteins so everything is ready to go, and cooking will be minimal.

Beat the Lunch Crunch
To make the most of your weekday mornings, we suggest assembling lunches the night before. (On Sunday night, pack Monday lunches. On Monday night, pack Tuesday lunches.) This way you can simply grab your lunch bag from the fridge and head out the door.
Remember to also pack utensils!
