À La Carte Plant Based Hot Dog, Three Ways

POV: It’s summertime, you’re hungry, and you’re craving something from the grill. But you don’t want a boring hot dog—you want a fancy one, made with a low carb, gluten free Carbonaut Hot Dog Bun. A dog that stimulates your salivatory glands and begs you to forget that you already ate lunch.

Here are three recipes that explore new possibilities. They launch a stellar new mindset on the plain old hot dog.
And they’re calling your doggone name.
BLT Haute Dawg
This is where your favorite sandwich meets grilled veggie dog goodness. Where else on Earth can you find two yummy meals combined to make this kind of magic? It’s pure summertime in your mouth.
And probably on your shirt. (You should totally snag a napkin.)
Ingredients:
- 2 slices vegan bacon
- 1 Carbonaut Hot Dog Bun
- 1 veggie dog
- ½ cup shredded iceberg lettuce
- ½ cup grape tomatoes, quartered
- Low carb condiment of your choice
Instructions:
- Cook bacon according to package instructions and set aside.
- Grill your hot dog until it reaches the desired temperature.
- Open bun and place hot dog inside.
- Top with shredded lettuce, coarsely chopped bacon and grape tomatoes.
- Drizzle with a low carb condiment of your choice.
Open-Faced Plant Based Chili Dog
This is a great way to blast off your protein intake, while keeping carbs on the launchpad. Pour the chili over your hot dog, dip your dog into the chili with each galactical bite, or eat them side by side—no touching! How you decide to scarf this bad boy back will be the perfect choice.
And you know what? The choice is yours, and yours alone.
Ingredients:
- ½ Carbonaut Hot Dog Bun
- ½ veggie dog (see directions below)
- 1/3 cup veggie ground round or plant-based beef (we used Yves)
- ¼ green pepper, minced
- 1 Tbsp. tomato paste
- 1 Tbsp. chopped celery
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. onion powder
- 1 tsp. chili powder
- ¼ jalapeño, sliced into rounds
- Hot sauce to taste
Instructions:
- Place plant-based beef, green pepper, celery, onion, tomato paste, and spices in small saucepan. Mix until combined and heat until desired temperature is reached.
- Remove from heat and set aside.
- Heat your veggie dog until hot, then slice lengthwise.
- Lightly grill your bun, then place one length of hot veggie dog on top of bun.
- Top with veggie chili, jalapeño slices, and add a dash of hot sauce if you want.
- Moon over each and every bite.
Rainbow Salad Veggie Doggo

Ingredients:
- 1 Carbonaut Hot Dog Bun
- 1 veggie dog
- ¼ cup shredded purple cabbage
- ¼ cup shredded romaine lettuce
- 1 Tbsp. shredded carrot
- 2 minced radishes
- 1 finely chopped green onion
- Mustard to taste
Instructions:
- Heat veggie dog until hot, then place in bun.
- Top with veggies.
- Drizzle with mustard.
- Enjoy!
