Most store-bought varieties are high in carbohydrates and typically contain added sugars and preservatives. Don’t settle for subpar space junk when you can create your own out of this world recipe!

Universally loved, our delicious variation is super simple to make and add mega flavor and personality to whatever summertime dish they accompany. The nutritional yeast lends a cheesy edge, while the paprika lends a unique smokiness.

  1. Pre-heat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Cut Carbonaut bread into cubes and place them in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Drizzle the bread cubes with olive oil and toss to coat evenly.
  4. In a small bowl, combine spices and nutritional yeast, mixing well.
  5. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture over the bread cubes, tossing again to ensure even coating.
  6. Spread the seasoned bread cubes on a baking sheet in a single layer.
  7. Bake until crispy and golden, about 6 minutes per side, ensuring no moisture remains.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool completely.

Tips:

  • Make sure bread contains no moisture when you remove it from the oven, or croutons will get soft quickly.
  • Sprinkle croutons with plant-based parmesan cheese or other herbs after baking!
  • For best taste and texture results, consume within 48 hours.
  • Store in airtight container.
  • Experiment with different spices for varied flavor profiles.
  • Try toasting the seasoned bread in your conventional toaster or using a toaster oven if making these guys on a hot day!
